Chopta Tungnath 2n3d- A divine Escape
Your journey to the serene Himalayan region of Chopta begins from Majnu Ka Tila, Delhi, where all participants will assemble in the evening. After a brief orientation and settling in, the group will depart for Chopta by tempo traveller, an overnight journey that takes approximately 14 to 16 hours. The scenic drive will pass through important pilgrimage and mountain towns such as Haridwar, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Ukhimath, giving you a glimpse of the sacred Ganga river and the beautiful Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Rest stops will be made along the way for food and refreshments.
By noon, you’ll reach Chopta, also known as the "Mini Switzerland of India," which sits at an altitude of around 2,600 meters. Upon arrival, check in to Swiss camps offering picturesque views of the surrounding forests and meadows. After some time to freshen up and relax, the day is free for acclimatization. You may explore nearby meadows or enjoy a light walk amidst the rhododendron forests. In the evening, if the weather allows, a bonfire session will be arranged for everyone to gather, socialize, and soak in the peaceful mountain vibes. Dinner will be served at the campsite, followed by an overnight stay in camps.
On this adventurous day, wake up early and enjoy a hearty breakfast before starting the Trek to Tungnath Temple and Chandrashila Summit. The trek begins from Chopta and covers a distance of about 3.5 km to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world, located at an altitude of approximately 3,680 meters. After exploring the ancient temple and soaking in the spiritual ambiance, you can proceed to Chandrashila Peak, which is an additional 1.5 km climb from Tungnath. The total trek distance (to and fro) is around 10 km. From the summit of Chandrashila (approx. 4,000 meters), you'll witness breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedarnath Dome, and Chaukhamba. After spending some peaceful moments at the summit, trek back to the Chopta campsite. Dinner will be served at the camp, followed by an overnight stay.
After an early morning wake-up and breakfast, it's time to bid farewell to the mountains. Post breakfast, check out from the campsite and board the tempo traveller for your return journey to Delhi. The drive will once again pass through Ukhimath, Rudraprayag, and Haridwar, allowing one last look at the scenic beauty of Uttarakhand. You will reach Delhi by late night or early morning the next day, marking the end of your memorable trip.
